LTV Was Top Polluter

As recently as 1999, it ranked No. 1 in Cuyahoga County and No. 15 in the state in the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's annual report on businesses that release toxic chemicals into the air, land and water.

LTV once dumped nearly 100 million gallons of water into the cuyahoga river each day, most of which had been used to cool plant machinery. Though the water was treated, it still carried grease, oil and various chemicals. And it was several degrees warmer than the river itself, which made it unhealthy for fish. Full Story.

Yeah yeah yeah, cleveland... parma... problems... whatever... but did you know that akron is the home of Linda Lorenz-Sengpiel - The Akron yo-yo champion, who was never defeated during her lifetime? She offered $100,000 to anyone who could match her skills. However, no one ever collected.
Akron is also the home of Alcoholics Anonymous, which was founded in Akron by "Dr. Bob" (Smith) and "Bill W." (Wilson) in 1935.
Akron also founded the world's largest model train display at the Depot, at Quaker Square, where the first breakfast cereal, now Quaker Oats, was also founded.
And saving the best for last, Akron is the home of the first artificial fish bait, made by Pfleuger Fishing Tackle Company.

ok whoever posted that website is obviously completely jealous of all the amazing things that take place in akron, and have no life and resort to either dropkicking cats or talking about people who do. AKRON IS AMAZING! so whoever wrote that should back off because their city obviously sucks and it's quite unnecessary to bash other much cooler cities like akron.

that was clearly writen in 1994, when akron actually did suck, but it doesnt now. and just for that, if you think im gonna show you where that empty hangar is now boy, you can FORGET IT!!!! so maybe you should just stick with your lame-o parma murphy's hotel bashing, because akron far surpasses your coolness. you just can't handle it, and are JEALOUUUUSSSSS!!!!
