In 1998, a sixth grade Parma resident set a new school record at Pleasant Valley Elementary by running one and a half miles in the annual nine minute run. To date, the record is yet to be broken.
In 2000, a sixth grade Strongsville resident paid a 4th grade Asian girl at Chapman Elementary to race in the annual mile run for her. To date, she still has not ever run more than 50 feet, and that was only to get the last Edy's cherry chocolate chip before the pregnant mother did.
