Great Lake Brewers

Great Lakes Brewing Company of Cleveland became Ohio's first microbrewery in 1988. Their distribution area now extends throughout Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Chicago, Illinois. Great Lakes Brewing is also a leader in putting sustainability principles such as recycling, organic farming, composting, and alternative fuels into practice.

Urban Legend

As legend has it, a prominent member of Parma City Council murdered a friend in 1976. In his premeditated genius, he put the body's remains in the cement box that was supposed to be prepared as a "time capsule" that took part in the bicentennial celebration and was buried outside city hall. By the time the capsule is opened in 2076, he will be long dead. Rumors of the cover up have been circulating for years, but the victim remains on the missing persons list.

In 1826, after recently returning from a trip to Italy, Dr. David Long, one of the first medical doctors in the Cleveland area, was so impressed with the beauty of Township No. 6 - Range 13 of Western Reserve, that he persuaded the townspeople to name the new township "Parma," after its counterpart in central Italy.
